Employees want teleworking and flexible hours, survey shows

The technology has enabled some very interesting changes in the routines of various professionals. The research produced by ConsumerLab shows that officials from developing countries such as China, Mexico and Brazil, are performing most downloaded new applications, compared to developed countries. According to Andrew Gualda, specialist Ericsson ConsumerLab area in Latin America, “the study showed that professionals today value a balanced life, where work fits your schedule, and not focus as much on social status and rapid growth, as it happened in the last years”.

In Brazil, according to the survey, over 50% of professionals believe that having mobility in the workload is very important in the labor market. About 57% of Brazilians use their own cell phones to work. Brazilian respondents use about 33% of their time on their phones to deal with professional matters.

Although many claim that using their devices for work, about 28% said they access social networks on office hours and 15% make online purchases. This demonstrates that there is a strong link between personal and professional activities in the workplace. “More and more people can make professional activities at home and personal activities at work. This mix of activities and freedom of action contribute to increased employee satisfaction, in which technology is used for, as a facilitating tool” said Gualda.

The aim of the study was to find out what people’s attitudes in relation to flexible working arrangements and how they can manage it. The survey was conducted in 23 countries worldwide, including six in Latin America: El Salvador, Brazil, Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina and Uruguay. The opinions of over 47,000 respondents were taken into account for the formation of a professional perspective.
