The use of information technology in combating bottlenecks infralogística

In a country of continental proportions as Brazil, logistics will never be just another sector within companies. According to data from consultancy ILOS, logistics costs in Brazil account for more than 10% of national GDP. Only spending on transport and distribution consume approximately 10% of the earnings of Brazilian companies. Internal management and government actions directly affect these numbers.

Since the beginning of time, man has had to adapt to ensure their survival in the face of constraints and scarcity of nature. This instinct remains to the present day, extending to companies. This is where the logistics becomes infralogística, ie, companies need to use the best way to assuage the internal planning of infrastructure bottlenecks. And that point will be crucial to the success or failure of the business.

We could discuss the numerous structural problems and opportunities that reflect costs for companies, as the data also presented by ILOS research, conducted with 126 Brazilian companies about which actions should be performed in order to reduce logistics costs. Improve the management of railways multimodal integration was the main demand of the sector, with 70.7% of the total. Secondly, the increase in access to the southeast and south railroads was reported by 68.6% of CEOs, followed by changes in the collection of VAT (67.2%), reducing port bureaucracy (65%) and improvement in conditions road (62.7%).

As we know, there are several problems with infrastructure, but my reflection is about what companies are doing to reduce their internal bottlenecks and how they deal with many daily challenges. Among these obstacles can highlight: integration between various actors in the chain, increase margin and results, preventing disruptions and balance inventory, lack of physical and human resources, cost reduction and fleet freight, increase the level of service and adaptation to tax complexity.

Luck of the companies is to manage everything that is not necessary to have magic. To deal with many bottlenecks that can hinder your results, there are numerous solutions on the market and appropriate to resolve each of these technologies critical points, after all this is a market that does not tolerate mistakes.

Information technologies used to integrate the entire supply chain run by Backoffice tools (Purchasing and Supply Management, Procurement, Inventory and Costs, Sales and Invoicing, Financial, Accounting, Tax Automation etc..) Through expert solutions in Core Business (WMS, TMS, OMS, Shipper Freight, SARA, Fleet Maintenance, Sales Force Automation, Optimizer stock, etc.) until the additional (Cloud Computing, Human Capital Management, BPO, ECM, Marketplace etc.).

Companies that underestimate their effectiveness in general, end up paying high cost in their operations and have low levels of productivity and competitiveness. It is estimated that 25% of a company in any sector, activities are related to internal logistics. Good management of infralogística, in turn, may generate an efficiency of up to 95%.

Who is not yet convinced of its importance, a little history may help. The logistics word derives from Greek and means speech, reason and rationality. The first evidence of use were on battlefields during World War II – where it was necessary to keep the troops in the field. Because of the uncertain how long the war would last long, it was necessary to plan the movements, studying land, ensuring the supply of weapons, medicine and food to the troops in action. In addition, large distances were traveled by land to be conquered.

Bringing this scenario to the current days of any organization, it’s easy to understand that the needs to plan, produce and deliver remain unchanged. In this sense, also continues to search for the best performance to enhance competitiveness, reduce costs and optimize time.

We are in the age of technology and we need to know to use it for our benefit. Brazil still has a lot to evolve in a matter of logistics infrastructure, but while it matures, companies can do their part by tracing intelligent routing. Failure to manually check thousands of invoices, manage orders, maintain inventory intelligent, encouraging the electronic exchange of documents, using the facilities of the marketplace and e-commerce platforms to do business, take care of maintenance of their trucks, track orders and deliveries improve are among the advantages. The technology is available to help companies dribble these bottlenecks and effectively become more competitive in the market in which they operate.
